Ue o Muite Arukou/Sukiyaki
The title
means "I look up when I walk." The English title was changed to
Sukiyaki because it was easier for Americans to say and associate with Japan.
The English version called Sukiyaki is not a literal translation of the
song and it is not the translation provided below. (Sukiyaki is actually food and has nothing to do with the song.) |
Ue o Muite Arukou | I Look Up as I Walk |
Ue o muite arukou Ue o muite arukou Shiawase wa kumo no ue ni Ue o muite arukou Omoidasu aki no hi Kanashimi wa hoshi no kage
ni Ue o muite arukou |
I look
up as I walk So that the tears won't fall Remembering those those spring days But I am all alone tonight I look up as I walk Happiness lies beyond the clouds
I look up as I walk Remembering those autumn days
Sadness lies in the shadow
of the stars I look up as I walk |
